1. in the beginning i started off with wanting to do boxes in a series style. then i saw a banana mold and got the idea to do a boat. after the whole sculpting process i got to the designing. at first i was going to tell a story with the pattern, but when i accidently scratched my piece i got the idea to do a woodwork design.
2. i think the process was fairly long but well needed. i feel that in the end every step was defiantly needed. 3. i feel that the overall wood work design was a huge success though i wish i didn't break my other oar as well as made the woodwork the design for the whole piece. 1. i took part in painting the monkey while Christine helped with the newspaper part
2. we made the shape then newspaper, then green goo, then lastly after letting it dry we painted it. 1. i had originally got this idea by looking around the room. I give all my credit to the banana mold i used that also gave me the inspiration.
2. in the beginning i had a bit of trouble with the clay and having air bubbles. though after my 5th try i got a thick enough template to mold my boat. after i got the clay onto the template i smoothed it out to get the exact shape i wanted. after, it got to a softer leather hard and i began to put the under glaze on it and made my design. after the two firings along with the two other glazes that followed i was left with my end product. (i was not able to get a picture of my sgraffito piece in progress) name: Ekaterina Lukasheva
link: https://www.instagram.com/ekaterina.lukasheva/ location: moscow material: paper interesting facts: requires an understanding of geometry to ensure the individual units fit together perfectly with the help of glue or string. I find a personal interest in this project because of how she makes the paper look like it's... not paper. the way she bends the paper to make her art sends more of an illusion feeling that inspired me to do a wood work design into my piece.
